May 21, 2012

Well, sorry it's been a while since my last post.  We've been really busy!!  Here's a little bit about what has been going on with us. :)

We had some new babies born in the Probert fan this last month!  They are all so precious and we can't wait for Jamie to have her little guy in June!

Jakes sister Sara had twins. Here are Emmelyn Rose Lake and Talmage Spencer Lake.  They were both very healthy babies and are doing great from what I have heard!!

And here is Taymon Mckay Probert.  This is Mckay and Heather's new little guy!  He is so sweet and doing great as well!

This makes 11 nieces and nephews plus Jamie's little guy in June, so 12 total!!  And many more to come!! I am so lucky to be an aunt to all these amazing and cute kids and to be apart of such an amazing family, I love them all so much!!

We were waiting to hear from the U of U about Jake getting in to the distance social work program down here in St. George.  Well, he got accepted to the U but not into the program :(  It was quite unexpected...we were feeling very positive and really felt like he was going to get in!  I was pretty upset because I really DID NOT want to move..But I had prayed and prayed and had told Heavenly Father that whatever happened I would be okay with it.  So Jake and I started brainstorming about what we should do and Jake felt that maybe he wasn't supposed to get a degree in social work.  He had talked to a co-worker recently who is doing what he is interested in and learned that he got a BS in Psychology and a MS in Social work.  Jake and I talked about it and we both felt really good about this new direction.  So we looked in to some programs and decided we would stay here in St. George after all and he would get a degree in Psychology!!  He just graduated with his Associate of Arts at Dixie and will continue there in the fall.  As for me, I can stay and finish my degree up at SUU and I will graduate next spring!!

So once we came to this conclusion, we started looking for a place to live!!  We found a great apartment in town and it has been perfect for us!!  We just moved in about 2 weeks ago now and we love it!  The only pictures I have right now are from the remodel.  They were painting and replacing the counter tops, floors, and carpet.  Our place does have quite a history but take a look at what it was like when we saw it :)

Yup, this is our place!!  After we moved in we found out a "little" bit more about why everything was being replaced.  The first day or two we were there went really good, then....we discovered the bugs...!!!!  The kitchen was the worst...they were crawling all over the floor, on the counters, in the drawers...I was utterly disgusted and sick.  I didn't want our new place to give me the creeps and make me scared to open anything!! For about the first week we thought okay, everywhere has bugs but we were killing WAY too many cockroaches for it to be okay.  So we called the landlord and found out that the people that lived there before us were mexican (I don't mean that in a racial way) and they had lived there for 7 years.  The mexican culture is obviously different than ours and they cook all the time and all day long.  They also get their food from different places than we do.  So come to find out, they were not very clean people and they brought German Cockroaches to our new home.  For anyone, like myself, who don't know and don't care to know about different kinds of bugs and who think all things that creep and crawl are disgusting, german cockroaches are the hardest cockroaches to kill and they reproduce the fastest.  I was sick.  Our landlord felt really bad and thought the problem was taken care of.  Well, to make a long story short, we replaced the fridge and and that seemed to be the main source of the problem.  We also are replacing the dishwasher and the handy man is coming to work on the cabinets to try and get more of the cooking oil off of them to help the bug problem go away as best as possible.  Since we replaced the fridge, I have felt a lot more at ease cause we have hardly seen any bugs!!! I just hope they all die by the time we move...!!   Yeah gross.

Anyways, I will post more pics of our place once everything is in order and put together!! We will have an extra bedroom with a spare bed so if anyone comes to visit and dares to stay with us, we have an extra room!!! And I promise, the bug situation is much much better, don't be scared to stay from what I just told you!!! Ha!

Thats the biggest news in our lives lately.  Here's some other things that have been happening with us :) Ellie just turned 5 months old and is just the sweetest thing ever :) Here are some fun pictures we have from the last little while :)

Eating at the Black Bear Diner..YUM!!

First time trying this new carrier with Ellie :) love it!

Going to church

Going to the river with the Sadie :) Ellie laughs when Sadie comes out of the water and shakes off :) It's great :)

And her johnny jump up :) She has started to really jump :)

Ellie with uncle Mckay

We were all down at the Iron Man cheering on the athletes.  I just rode the carousel with Ellie, Heather, Alaykah, and Malakai, Ellie loved it :) I did too :)

Going swimming for the first time! She loves to swim

This is the mirror in our bathroom and she just goes nuts, talking, yelling, bouncing up and down

Jake put these 3d glasses on Ellie and she didn't take them off

Down at the River with the Dog again :)

Jake loves fishing and so there have already been many fishing trips and many more to come :) Trev loves fishing too and goes with Jake and Mckay when he can :) We can't wait for Palisades with everyone!!

We were able to witness the eclipse that happened here in southern Utah.  There were people from all over the country and the world that came to see it and many scientists and even astronauts :)  We had people staying at the hotel who came all the way from London to see it :) It was really cool and fun to be together with everyone.  Sadly, mom couldn't be there.  She broke her arm about 3 weeks ago and just had surgery a week ago so she was home resting. In a couple of weeks Venus will be passing in front of the sun and its an even bigger event than this eclipse.  It won't happen again until 2177!! They said we can use these glasses to see it, so we will be hanging on to these :)

We had to use these special glasses so we wouldn't ruin our eyes

The Fam :)

Erin caught this picture on her camera. We tried taking a picture of it on Jakes phone.

My dad poked a hole in this piece of paper and we were able to see the whole eclipse this way as well :)

The "Ring of Fire"

And thats pretty much what we've been up to lately!
We have a fun summer ahead of us filled with lots of swimming, fishing, weddings, and our favorite camping trip to the Manti Pageant! We can't wait for Nate and Natalie to move closer to us and to be able to spend more time with them. And Happy Birthday to my Dad tomorrow, the big 50!!! :)
Well, thats it for now!! I will try to update sooner than later from now on, we'll see how that goes!!
